McMullen, Drew

Drew McMullen is the director and one of the original organizers of the Schooner Sultana Project of Chestertown, Maryland. It was this project that led him to write Schooner Sultana: Building a Chesapeake Legacy.

After graduating St. Paul’s School and Amherst College, McMullen moved to Maryland’s Eastern Shore, where he served as the vessel restoration coordinator for Echo Hill Outdoor School’s restoration of the 1901 skipjack Elsworth and the 1957 buyboat Annie D. In 1997, he left Echo Hill Outdoor School to help organize and establish the Schooner Sultana Project, an educational endeavor centered on the reconstruction and operation of the 1767 schooner Sultana.
