After studying finance at the University of Illinois and law at the College of William and Mary, Mary McVicker worked for a major accounting firm and taught at the college level. A trip to a tapestry factory in France provided the inspiration for her first article. Since then, she has written on a variety of topics for numerous trade journals and magazines, including Highlights for Children, Archaeology, Sky, and American Heritage. She is the author of several books, including the children’s book The Secret of Belle Meadow.
