Meanley, Brooke

As a biologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Brooke Meanley (1915–2007) spent nearly twenty years in the Chesapeake country researching birdlife. He was a member of the American Ornithologist’s Union, the Wilson Ornithological Society, Eastern Bird Banding Association, and the Ornithological Societies in Virginia, Georgia, Maryland, and Arkansas.

Meanley contributed to Auk, Wilson Bulletin, and Raven, and published many books on birdlife in various areas of the United States, including Birdlife at Chincoteague and the Virginia Barrier Islands and Birds & Marshes of the Chesapeake Bay Country. He received the Special Achievement Award for outstanding publication from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
