Seabrooke, Brenda

Born in Mt. Dora, Florida, and raised in Fitzgerald, Georgia, Brenda Seabrooke wrote for her high school newspaper, the local weekly newspaper, and the teen page of the Atlantic Constitution. After graduating from Newcomb College, Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, she became a public school teacher.

She is the author of several books for young readers, including The Boy Who Saved the Town and The Chester Town Tea Party. In addition, Seabrooke is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Boston Globe-Horn Book honor, an NCSS Notable, Blue Ribbon and Fanfare lists, and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and Ploughshares-Emerson College.
