Quentin Snediker realized a childhood dream when he became master of a traditionally rigged schooner, the Mystic Whaler, following his graduation from the State University of New York Maritime College. He was introduced to the Chesapeake Bay aboard that schooner and made the working craft of the bay the focus of his studies for many years. In 1983 he worked on the design and construction of the new passenger schooner, Mystic Clipper, and today he is a historic maritime preservationist who supervises the fleet at Mystic Seaport Museum in Connecticut. Snediker is the coauthor of the book Chesapeake Bay Schooners.
