White, Amy Wendt

Amy Wendt White spent most of her childhood in the suburbs of Wilmington, Delaware, where her family spent a lot of their leisure time outdoors. This led her to choose geology as a major for her undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary.

After college she worked for five years at the Delaware Nature Society, coordinating the Delaware Stream Watch program. She and her husband, Jim White also led trips for teenagers and adults to national parks and wildlife refuges along the East Coast. She later achieved a master’s degree in environmental engineering from the University of Delaware. White is the coauthor of Amphibians and Reptiles of Delmarva.

Today she divides her time between her role as a mother of two boys and a part-time position as a teacher-naturalist at the Delaware Nature Society.
