Larry C. Young is a graduate of the United States Coast Guard Academy and holds a master’s in business administration from Oklahoma City University. He served as officer of the deck and navigator aboard the USCGC Jarvis before joining the United States Coast Guard Institute in 1976. After leaving the institute, he moved into the testing and training field where he was involved in revamping the training program for the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He left the Coast Guard and took the position of manager, military testing, for the American Council on Education, becoming involved in GED testing internationally. He now operates Knowledge Assessment Service, a consulting company specializing in test preparation courses. He has developed courses to prepare students for the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE), and the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) that have been used in three state education programs.
